2024 Municipal Budget Introduced

2024 Robbinsville Township Budget
Introduced to Council

Flat tax proposed for 10th time in 13 years Pending Adoption

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ – (May 9, 2024) – Robbinsville Township Council introduced the 2024 Municipal Budget of $28.5 million at Thursday’s regular meeting.

The budget includes a proposed municipal tax rate of 57.7 cents for every $100 of assessed value of a home in Robbinsville, which is $380,000. A penny in Robbinsville Township tax rate worth $268,287.43.

The proposed tax rate represents another year of flat municipal taxes - the 10th time in 13 years Mayor Fried has kept taxes stable in the face of rising taxes elsewhere, including the recent $2.75 million school referendum and an increase in the Mercer County rate.

“Very proud to present this flat budget to Council," Mayor Fried. "Delivering the superior services Robbinsville is reknown for, and still having the ability to finally move our police and municipal court into the former Investors/Roma building in the same year without raising taxes, is a huge victory. We believe the services we offer are second to none in Mercer County.”

The total 2024 proposed budget is $28,501,697. Township Council will now review the budget, ask questions and make suggested changes before setting a May 9 target to introduce the document to the public. Now that it has been introduced, there is a minimum of 28 days required before a public hearing and vote to adopt on June 13. The budget was presented by Mayor Dave Fried on April 25.

Following nine consecutive years of either flat or reduced municipal taxes, the 2022 and 2023 budgets marked the first municipal increases since 2012, mostly due to widespread inflation.

“Last year's municipal increase was a big pill to swallow with costs up for nearly all of our expenses, and we wanted to do everything in our power to offset that," Mayor Fried said. "The great news is Robbinsville is still an outstanding investment. Home values are still up, inventory of existing home sales remains extremely low, and inflation, while still stubbordingly high, is still nearly half of what it was in 2022."
