HONORING THE 103rd ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICAN LEGION
 

WHEREAS, the American Legion, comprised of approximately two million members that hold the designation of veteran, was founded on March 15, 1919, and chartered by the United States Congress on September 16, 1919; and

WHEREAS, the mission statement of the American Legion is "to enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness"; and

WHEREAS, the American Legion has fulfilled and continues to fulfill this mission by advocating for veterans' affairs, including the passage of the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944 (commonly known as the "G.I. Bill") and the creation of the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as providing life-changing assistance and guidance for veterans, military personnel, their families and communities in thousands of ways every day around the world; and

WHEREAS, in practicing their value principles of a veteran is a veteran, selfless service, American values and patriotism, family and community engagement, advancing the vision and honoring all those that carne before us, the American Legion exemplifies the qualities embodied in its motto "Veterans Strengthening America"; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, the American Legion is celebrating its 103rd year of serving veterans of the United States Armed Forces, their families, and their communities; and

WHEREAS, in Robbinsville Township, American Legion Post 530, has been a pillar of the community showing a steadfast dedication to improving the Township by providing services to its residents, including giving out scholarships, creating memorials, and maintaining monuments that honor the historical sacrifice of Robbinsville's military residents as well as American soldiers everywhere; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for American Legion Post 530, and the American Legion as a whole, to be recognized for their I 03 years of service to this community and to the United States;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Township Council of the Township of Robbinsville, County of Mercer, State of New Jersey, hereby honors the vital role the American Legion has played in the United States throughout its 103 years of service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Township Council of the Township of Robbinsville offers its sincerest thanks to American Legion Post 530 for being a true beacon of our community and commends it for its dedication, assistance, and contributions to the Township.
I certify this be a true copy of a Resolution adopted by the Township Council of the Township of Robbinsville at a regular meeting held on March 10, 2022.
