DOUGHBOY CENTENNIAL SEARCH 2020

On October 16, 1920, the Doughboy monument was erected on the point at Route 33 and Main Street in Robbinsville.

doughboy-2018The land was donated by John B Yard, a civil war veteran, to the residents for a memorial to the service men of Washington Township (now Robbinsville Township). The following men are listed on the monument for World War I:

 E. Drew Silver M.D. * David Scheidler
Willard V Applegate * James Reading
Fred Meeker * Grover Field
Irving Bastedo * Edward Gundlach
Richard Danser * Steven Marvel
William Lambert * Daniel Lyons
Herbert Pullen * Max Levine * Harry Nixon

The following men made the supreme sacrifice in World War II and are on the monument:

J. Steven Scheidler - June 29, 1944 - Italy
Chester S. Erbe - November 23, 1944 - Germany 

Terri Rinyu of the Robbinsville Public Works Department has a passion for genealogy and history. She is working on creating mini biographies for these men in preparation for the monument's 100th anniversary next fall.
