West Town Center Lake Treatment Completed
Black Lagoon Pond Management has successfully treated West Town Center Lake, which suffered this past summer from excessive algae build-up due to a myriad of conditions, including elevated levels of nutrients, warmer water, chemical runoff from neighboring treated lawns and animal waste.
On September 16, Black Lagoon began the first of two holistic treatments with EPA-registered formulations that posed no threat to fish or bird life. Those treatments greatly diminished the excessive algae atop the lakes, and over the ensuing months the algae that sank to bottom of the lakes due to those treatments will dissipate.
Township officials will continue to monitor the lakes and contract future treatments if necessary.
