FIRST AMAZON ORDER SHIPS FROM ROBBINSVILLE FULFILLMENT CENTER
ROBBINSVILLE, NJ - (July 30, 2014) - Amazon confirmed today that its new fulfillment center in Robbinsville has shipped its first customer order. The item was an Interplak All-In-One Sonic Water Jet System that was shipped from the 1-million-square-foot facility to an Amazon customer in New York.
"This is a historic day for Robbinsville, Amazon and the State of New Jersey,'' Robbinsville Mayor Dave Fried said. "The number of people that helped get that first order out the door are far too numerous to mention here. We are just beyond thrilled and are proud to play a role in helping our economy by bringing arguably the most sought-after ratable in the country and more than 1,000 jobs to Robbinsville.''
The first shipment comes just days after Amazon welcomed hundreds of full-time employees to the fulfillment center, a number that will continue to grow. By the end of the summer, the fulfillment center expects to have more than 1,000 full-time employees who will pick, pack and ship smaller items to customers – anything from books to DVDS, for example. Amazon employees also receive comprehensive benefits, including healthcare starting on day one, 401(k) and company stock awards. Amazon offers full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
Amazon is a proud supporter of the local communities where its employees live and work. Recently, Amazon donated $5,000 to the Robbinsville Little League 11/12 Girls' Softball Team, which advanced to the 2014 World Series.
