Rich Levesque Resigns From Township Council

ROBBINSVILLE, N.J. (July 27, 2012) – Township Councilman Rich Levesque formally announced his resignation from the board at Thursday’s regular council meeting.

The resignation is effect August 1, 2012.

Among Mr. Levesque’s contributions to Council include securing funding in 2009 for the Municipal Alliance against Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, along with a number of planning and economic development issues.

“I want to thank Rich for his dedicated service,’’ Robbinsville Mayor David Fried said. “Everyone at the Township wishes him and his family all the best as they begin a new chapter of their lives.’’

Mr. Levesque replaced current Community and Economic Development Director Tim McGough on Township Council in September of 2008, and then successfully ran in the November 2008 general election to serve the remainder of that unexpired term. He was re-elected in 2011.

Mr. Levesque, who also leaves a vacancy as a voting member of the planning board, plans on relocating to Hopewell Township.
“I want to personally thank Rich for his many years of service to the residents and the Township of Robbinsville,’’ Council President Ron Witt Jr. said. “I consider Rich a friend and I wish him and his family nothing but success and happiness in the future.’’

Council has 30 days to appoint a temporary replacement to serve until the next general election on November 6, 2012.
Any resident that has lived in the Township for at least one year and is registered to vote is eligible to run for office. Mr. Levesque’s term expires on Dec. 31, 2015.

Petitions to fill the vacant seat will be available on August 6, 2012.
