3rd Annual Robbinsville St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Grand Marshal, ‘Irish Person of the Year’ Honored March 24
Robbinsville, NJ – When celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Robbinsville everyone is Irish.
The Robbinsville Irish Heritage Association (RIHA) is once again sponsoring the township’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The festivities begin with Mass at St. Gregory the Great Church in Hamilton at 8:30 am, followed by the opening ceremonies at 12:30 pm at the Foxmoor Shopping Center, located at the corner of Route 33 and Washington Boulevard.
The parade will begin at 1:00 pm and work its way through the town center and end at the parking lot behind the businesses on Routes 33 and 526.
This 3rd annual event promises to bring our community together for a day of celebration and fun. People of all ages will gather as parade participants and spectators. An Irish flag is flying in front of the Robbinsville Township offices in celebration of Irish-American Heritage Month, and special green hair extensions also are available all month long from “Hair It Is’’ salon in Foxmoor to help celebrate.
This year RIHA is proud to honor Mike McGeough, President of the Dubh Linn Square Pub Group, as the Grand Marshal, and Cathy Zahn, a Robbinsville School teacher and Genealogy expert as “Irish Person of the Year.’’ The honorees also will be recognized at the Robbinsville Township Council meeting on March 22. Complete biographies of Mr. McGeough and Mrs. Zahn can be found at: http://robbinsvillei...e_Honorees.aspx.
The 2012 parade will feature several area bagpipe bands, Irish dancers and the Robbinsville High marching band, along with marching groups from the Boys and Girls Scouts and other local groups and musicians. Following the parade there will be a party on the grounds of Ernie’s Tavern on Main Street in Robbinsville. Admission is free, and the event will feature entertainment, various food vendors and activities for the whole family.
RIHA’s purpose is to foster an understanding and appreciation of Irish cultural values and heritage, and to be the nexus for cultural events and activities for Robbinsville Township. The organization also promotes and brings together all good things about Ireland. In addition, they support and promote local charitable activities within our local community, county and state, and provide a yearly scholarship to Robbinsville High seniors.
