NJ Turnpike Construction Update
The Turnpike has advanced construction activities adjacent to the soccer fields at Community park at the Township’s request, so that this work occurs between the Lacrosse and Soccer seasons. The work will include clearing the existing tree line (already done), removing the existing lighting for the fields, irrigation relocation, and most importantly, construction of a twelve feet high berm along the length between the Turnpike and the fields. This twelve feet high berm will have trees planted on it, and will serve as a buffer/separation between the Turnpike widening and the playing fields. The Township pushed to get this done as the first item of work, so that during the rest of construction, the fields would be protected. The lighting relocation, additional irrigation, restoration of fields, and the addition of new fields will be done in the next coming weeks with funds provided by the NJ Turnpike as part of their payment to the Township for the property they needed for the widening. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Township Engineer, Tim McGough, P.E. at (609) 918-0002, extension 102.
